I’m here to send word from the Transom Story Workshop in Woods Hole, MA. I’ve just completed a nine-week storytelling residency in new-public radio storytelling with eight other students spanning the map from Marfa, TX to Helsinki, Finland. If you’re thinking about taking the turn into audio storytelling, the folks who run Atlantic Public Media/Transom are the people you want to work alongside. It's a soup-to-nuts program: you'll do everything from getting nitty-gritty with gear to pitching Ira Glass (The Man Himself, which is not as intimidating as it sounds) — but most importantly, we lived, learned, and incubated ideas side-by-side in an environment most-collaborative. We even took the row boat out onto the high seas and lived to tell the tale.

Here’s the good news: Transom offers spring/falls sessions of this nine-week course, but they also offer a week-long traveling workshop series throughout the summer. An avid adventure seeker and vagabonding storyteller, Robin Miniter came to OHMA with a B.A. from Marist College and a critical eye turned to the experience of female bodies in motion. As a Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Scholar to India, Robin took to the pitches with her cleats and camera, as she chased the rise of women’s rugby across the subcontinent. Robin is currently pursuing her Certificate in Documentary Arts from Duke University and working with Atlantic Public Media/WCAI this summer to do some producing for them.
